This short story is about a little boy, unique, special, unlike most kids his age. Paul nor his mother knew just how special he really was, his mother Mary asked her parents a question as a little girl like how did the sun get in the sky? Mary's parents would say someone threw a lightning bug far up and the sun came to be, Mary said ok. When Mary's son Paul asked his mother a question she responded much like her parents did, oh but Paul being the unique child he was tried everything his mother told him. Mary was unaware of the things happening around her until this particular day when the sky turned purple.

Christan finds himself left helpless and alone in Trewic when the fairies aandon him and meets the dwarf Prenick who lives in the mountains. Christan's ancestors were banished from Trewic and left to starve one hundred years ago before, accused of murder. Christan is sure of their innocence and Prenick tells him the warlord Sumnor knows the truth. Christan finally has the chance to avenge his ancestors.When Christan meets Serra he is enamoured and she with him. Yet after seeing Vaun, the son of Sumnor when she left the changeling at Hux, her thoughts seemed to be constantly turning to him. Serra is also devastated that she has started the war between Billac and Hux and she wants to find a way to right the wrong that she has caused. With help from the dwarf Prenick and from the boy king Christan, can Serra become the warrior she has always dreamt of being? Will Christan finally avenge his people for their wrongful exile all those years ago?
